Volunteering
Volunteers offer a listening ear, support and information to anyone directly or indirectly affected by a planned or unplanned pregnancy. Volunteers must offer a non-judgemental space to people with concerns about abortion, adoption, contraception, continuing a pregnancy and ambivalence, from a pro-choice perspective.
We recruit volunteers twice a year to fill help line and chat time slots. Volunteering hours are Monday to Friday, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m., and weekends, from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.
Main requirements
- Adhere to the pro-choice philosophy of Grossesse-Secours, which respects the decision of each pregnant person by supporting them on their journey.
- Attend two mandatory training sessions held at the Grossesse-Secours offices in Montreal.
- Have access to a computer and a smartphone (with an Internet connection), as well as a location that ensures the confidentiality of calls, since listening shifts will be conducted remotely from your home.
- Commit to volunteering a minimum of 8 hours a month for one year. Listening shifts are 4 hours long and run from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. in the evening or from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. on weekends.
- Bilingual (French and English), which means to be able to intervene and have a conversation in both languages.
